Kathy began her study of karate as a
student at the University of Utah.

Her first instructor was Sensei Toshio Osaka.  In 2006, Kathy continued her karate studies with Sensei Jepperson at Park City Karate. Kathy earned her Black Belt from USA-NKF member United States Olympic Committee.

Kathy competed recently and medalled at the Ozawa Cup in Las Vegas, Nevada. She has also received medals at competitions including the Utah Open, the Suzuki Cup and the Utah Karate Championship. She is now an instructor in our Children’s Program and is a Coach for our Competition Team.

She received a bachelor of science in Journalism/Mass Communication from the University of Utah. After graduating from college, she went on to a successful career in journalism. She currently works as a freelance writer and designer working primarily in electronic media.
